Velomotion's resident bike fitter and renowned cyclist Mike Smith is leaving the UK to embark on a journey to reach the next level of bike fitting.
This week, Mike is leaving Milton Keynes to venture to Retül Headquarters in Boulder, Colorado, the premium place for bike fitters around the world.
Mike, who has worked for Velomotion since it's inception in 2009, will be working at Retül for the next few months and is hoping to learn some new tips and bike procedures to advance his skills and training.
Mike says he's looking forward to learning more about bike fits in Boulder:
“My aim is to get more experience on bike fits, particularly mountain bike fits, as a lot more take place over there than in Milton Keynes. I'm really looking forward to working with and learning from Todd Carver (one of Retül's co-founders), who is extremely well respected in the industry and a bit of a guru-like figure, to be honest.”
Mike, who trained as a sports therapist at the University of Hertfordshire before entering the world of bike fits, says he's looking forward to dealing with bike shop owners in Colorado and learn more expert knowledge from the courses at Retül.
Retül specialise in cycling-specific motion-capture bike fitting systems designed to provide qualified bike fitters highly accurate and comprehensive bike fit data. At Velomotion we use Retül's technology to capture accurate data taken from key body points in real time, which is then utilised to provide the most comfortable and efficient position to maximise performance.
