About Velomotion

The Velomotion Bike Fit Studio is one of the leading Retül bike fit studios within Europe. The studio is headed up by Michael Smith, a Retül instructor/master fitter as well as Elite British Cycling license holder.

About Mike

In 2009 Michael joined Velomotion and was trained in the art of Retül bike fitting.  Michael then added to his experience in 2012 by spending a summer in Boulder, Colorado at Retül Headquarters working closely with Todd Carver and Ivan O'Gorman including performing fits for local Boulder cyclists. 

As a fitter, Michael has been sought after by many professional athletes and is known for his attention to detail and understanding of complex fit dynamics. Michael’s level of experience has enabled him to improve many customers cycling experience, help prevent injuries and enhance individual performances. 

Michael is also a Cytech 1 accredited bicycle mechanic.

As well as working at Velomotion, Michael also works for Retül by teaching Bike Fitting courses to other cycle shops and studios, which has involved him in travelling to several other countries including Mexico, Denmark, Austria, Dubai, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, China and Taiwan.

As a cyclist Michael holds an “elite” British Cycling Road Racing Licence and competes regularly in the National Elite Road and Criterion Series. Michael also specialises in Hill Climb races with considerable success, and won the bronze medal in the 2010 National Hill Climb Championship.  Although not currently his sporting focus Michael is also an accomplished Time Trialist, and has competed in Triathlons of all distances including a full ironman in Switzerland.

Michael’s best result of last year (2013) was winning the Central Region Road Race Championships.

About Retul

Retül uses 3D motion capture technology to record a riders position while they are in motion creating a picture of the riders pedal stroke and and body position on the bike. By capturing data dynamically it presents an accurate picture of a riders movements.

Retül technology is suitable for professional athletes, to competitive age groupers to recreational riders and commuters. Every cyclist will benefit from a proper bike fit. Retül tools and technology can be applied to road, mountain and TT/Tri riding positions.

About Newport Pagnell

Newport Pagnell is a town in Buckinghamshire, just outside of Milton Keynes, just two miles from Junction 14 of the M1. Our location is situated in the centre of the town in a courtyard amongst other small businesses, with private parking immediately outside the studio. There are restaurants, coffee shops and supermarkets within a short walk of the studio.
